Project Background & Objectives

To ensure power stability and water resilience for local farming in Zahle, Lebanon, the Mekseh Municipality partnered with Sustainable Energy Partners to deploy a 37.6 kWp ground-mounted solar pumping asset. This setup directly powers high-capacity irrigation pumps with clean daytime solar energy, supporting reliable public services and agricultural sustainability.

Operational Challenges & Logistics

Deploying the system involved overcoming distinct logistical hurdles, including precise mechanical excavation and structural grading for the ground-mounted structures across uneven terrain. Additionally, engineers executed specialized VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) integration to safely manage fluctuating solar irradiance between the 37.6 kWp solar array and active pumps without disrupting community water routines.

System Performance & Sustainability Impact

The installation has successfully relieved regional grid and diesel dependence, eliminating traditional fuel draws during peak watering hours. Operating at peak performance, the Mekseh Irrigation Pump achieves an environmental offset of 23.2 tons of carbon emission savings annually, demonstrating how municipalities can lower costs while advancing energy transition goals.
